Senate Holds Cloture Vote On Immigration Bill

August 07, 2015

WASHINGTON – JUNE 28: U.S. Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) holds a news conference June 28, 2007 in Washington, D.C. The freshman senator offered an amendment, easily defeated today, to the immigration reform bill that would have greatly restricted the number of illegal immigrants who could apply for citizenship by requiring that they live in the U.S. for at least four years. The amendment also would removed a requirement that they return to their home country to apply for U.S. legal status. Webb said he might defy his party leadership and vote against the bill.
