Live From Brussels: Russia, Ukraine, and the European Union Seek to Settle Differences on Gas Supplies

Winter is coming, and with it, the threat of another Russian shutoff of gas supplies to Ukraine. The European Union is seeking to mitigate the threat of repeating last year’s standoff by arbitering talks between Russia and Ukraine. Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, spokeswoman for the European Commission, is optimistic about the prospects for a favorable outcome to negotiations.
